Week 3

Week three was even more fun as I challenged mom and dad to figure out how to sleep while I slept.  Dad went back to work this week and mom and I figured out how to hang out with each other at home.  We also started getting out for walks, which both of us enjoyed.

Trying out my old man impression...

And believe it or not, dad and mom went out to dinner while Aunt Jessica babysat me.  They had a fantastic time, but they missed me and were happy to get home :)

Week 2

Once we got a few days at home under our belt, things started to get a bit easier.  I started to sleep for three-hour stretches, which was SO awesome.  And I opened my eyes more and more.

Week 1

My name is Madeline James Bramhall.  I was born on Tuesday, January 12th at 11:39 a.m. to two happy parents.  Even though mom was sick during her third trimester and I was born at 36 weeks and 2 days, I was a surprising 7 lbs., 5 oz. and 20.25" long.

After an hour of skin to skin contact, I was whisked away for a quick rinse by dad and the nurse.  The water was so warm and soothing, I loved every minute of it.  And during my bath, mom found the present (poop) I left all over her :)

During our two days in the hospital, every nurse we met gave mom and dad advice about the "correct" way to swaddle me.  So many techniques and so little sleep led to a bit of insanity for all of us, but we eventually got it down.  Unfortunately, mom's milk was slow to come in and I wasn't getting enough to eat (and thus lost 11% of my body weight), so they started supplementing formula and I got some much-needed rest.

My first photo:

My dad holding me for the first time!

The car ride home was scary (and filled with traffic), but it was SO nice to be home once we got there.

I was pretty tiny!!!

And everyone loved to hold me :)

At the end of the first week, I started to open my eyes more.
